Undercut Hairstyle: How to, Haircut, Pictures, Products - OFFICIAL thread

RE: Undercut Hairstyle: How to, Haircut, Pictures, Products - OFFICIAL thread

I'm a bit new around here, but I have been reading around on the site a while. One thing I haven't really seen anyone talk about is adding color to their hair, is there a reason for that? The reason I ask is because I was thinking the undercut (regardless how you style it, slicked back, to the side, puffed out, etc.) could look pretty cool with some color in it? A blond streak through it, perhaps? What do you guys think?

I did something sort like this just now(I don't think I can post pics with my post count). Mine seems to have more of a fade but it's tough to get an exact look on MGK's since the picture is kind of crappy. Does anyone have a HQ pic of this pic or any with MGK with this hair cut.

Anyway my take on it was similar to what the admin said. My top is about 1.5" in length with some texture from point cutting with scissors.

Sides were done with a Andis BGRC. I don't use plastic guards, only the metal blades as I have found(and read) that not having the clipper teeth covered with a plastic
attachment allows the blade to move through the hair with more ease.

3 ½ (3/8”) blade and starting at the bottom I move the clipper up in a imaginary line straight up in the air parallel to the head. As the head rounds in keep moving the clipper straight up in the air because this has a blending effect.

2 (1/4”) blade. Same as above except this time when you get to the round of the head let it push the clipper blade outward and follow that line slowly until you run out of hair. This will blend into the previous cut without a line.

1 ½ (1/8”) blade. About .5 inch below the round of the head start pulling the clipper blade away from the head in a scooping motion very slow. This will blend into the previously cut area without a line.

I finish it off with a Oster Fast Feed. Start with the longest setting(its a #1) about .5" all around the bottom. Then close it half way and go about .25". Close it all the say and maybe just edge it around.

I'd like to find a proper pic or try show this pic to a quality barber and see their take on it with my hair as well.

I'm wondering if a undercut would work for my face and hair type. I have straight black hair, but a large head. My face is oval shaped, and I have a large forehead, and most importantly, a receding/maturing hairline (maybe norwood III?). I've been doing the businessman cut, keeping it short on the sides (#2 or so). I like how it looks clean and sharp, but it does reveal my large forehead. I love the look of the undercut (probably keeping the top side swept), but would it work well with my face shape and hairline?

I'm also wondering whether this style would suit me! I love the undercut/disconnected undercut I think it looks really smart and is a versatile style to wear! I'm going on holiday soo a Nd looking for a new style instead of my usual!

I'm a larger guy and have a very round chubby face and cheeks and just wondering whether this would suit me as I'm sick of my usual #1 on back and sides and scissor over comb on top and styled in a Mohawk/tintin style!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers dudes and dudettes (if there's any on here)

Cool

Just wanted to update. I ended going all in and doing the undercut last night and it looks fantastic. It actually doesn't look much different from my previous hairstyle since my sides were short then too. However, this new style is so simple and clean and looks great.

If so, I was wondering what would be the best way to go about getting it cut next time I make a trip, as well as the best way for me to style it. I know there are tons of different undercuts as displayed so well in this thread, but I'm also curious to know if there would be one or the other that would work best with my head/hair. The following are some extra pics of the left, and right sides of my hair as it is now.

Right:

Thanks all!

I don't see why not. It should suit you as you have an oblong face instead of a round face. But your hair is quite short, it's gonna take a good six-months or more before your hair is a decent level to slick back. I would just leave it to grow for a while and put a baseball cap on. I have the undercut at the moment.

On a similar note - how can I post a picture, would like some advice on a cut but I don't know what it is. It might be an undercut, not sure. It looks different.

RE: Undercut Hairstyle: How to, Haircut, Pictures, Products - OFFICIAL thread
Guys I need some advice my hair. I've been using suavecito pomade and have since ordered the firme version but the problem I have is the sides tend to fall down so it looks like I have curtains.

I've tried adding hairbond moulder after I've applied the Pomade to make it more firm but it still tends to fall down at the sides

My hairs quite long at the front down to my nose and goes up like a v shape when down due to my previous style I'm just continuing to let it grow all over.

So yesterday I went and got the undercut, but something looks very wrong about it to me Undecided I can't figure it out, are my sides too short (#1), is the top not long enough? Did the barber start the undercut too high? Please help, I feel like I look really funny lol. Sort of like a bird with feathers on its head. Or perhaps I am hallucinating and it actually looks fine.

I think it looks great mate. Usually with the undercut you can play with where the disconnect undercut occurs. But you got the line bang in the right place for a first timer. The undercut usually looks a bit odd from the front angle cause of the sharp edge of the disconnect. It happens even with good looking guys like jimmy darmody aka michael pitt.

In your case you chose the lowest clipper number for your undercut. So now you can grow it a little and get another clipper number like a 3 for example. Just experiment with the number until youfind one that creates the most aesthetic disconnect edge for you. Mor eor less you outgrow one clipper length every 3 weeks so post the pictures again in 3 weeks without getting a new undercut.

As a barber my self i do prefer undercuts like yours that are super short. I dislike the undercuts that look like a freaking taper haircut Big Grin go short or go home!

Thanks Bradley for your opinion, definitely makes me feel a bit better about the cut hearing that from an actual barber. I'll definitely be experimenting with the clipper number as you suggest, also want a couple more inches on the top. The front angle is really what I was concerned about, but seeing pictures of the more known guys also looking odd is comforting.

So I wanted a undercut but didn't go full crazy on the sides with the trimming. Do you guys think it looks okay? Plus I was wondering maybe I can go a bit more trimmed on the sides for my next haircut. But I'm scared do you think it will suit me?

Whow i really like thoose hairstyles... Especially Jake Gyllenhaals!
It makes me think about stop my hair growing, since i have 8 to 9 inches all over my head...
Although my Temples go back a little bit more... But i guess it'll be alright.
I wanted to go for shoulder lenght hair, but the longer it gets, the more it starts to annoy me, cuz it needs a lot of pre-go to work-preparation haha. I like longer hair, but just not on the sides... I gues this modern slicked back style would be easier to maintain.

Here's an undercut with longer hair. You can still have the feeling of long hair without the annoying sides like you say. Looks pretty nice, I think.

The guide given looks simple and easy to try! Looking forward to try that but can I make a casual and simple slick back/ side part with just a pomade? (assuming I use layrite super hold) Because sometimes just need a simpler hairstyle haha

Hi Txword!
I think it looks pretty decent, but in my opinion i would go for a more styled way on top, instead of everything just going full up. Maybe let the top grow a bit longer, so you can slick it back, or go for a left or right sided backslick, with some volume.
About the sides: you can actually try any lenght you want. You need regular trimming once a month anyway, because it grows out pretty fast, from this lenght.
Just give it a try, and go shorter... You will be where you at now, within 1 month of growing. It will be wort the experience.
