wavy thick hair how do i style it

hey guys, i have wavy thick hair, the length when i put down my hair is below the eyes, i want to style a quiff but however when i style it it goes to one side ( one side of the hair drops down like a fringe) or else it would look short .
after i bathe, i would let it dry the way it dries, and when i wake up i put wax on dry hair, should i be putting it on damp hair? Should i blow dry my hair as well, blow dry with damp hair and wax or wax after the blowdry? or should i try pomade?
i read some threads, didn't really find much answers because different people have different ways, of course when its dried my hair would only touch the eyebrows though.
