Traction Alopecia with Braids and Cornrows - A Real Issue!
Gentlemen, this isn't the first time that we talk about traction alopecia and braids and cornrows. You can lose your hair from getting very tight braids or wearing braids for a long time, and cornrows are just as bad.
I was browsing some foreign newspapers (with a translator LOL) on information about NGOs hat work in Africa and I found the following picture of a little black girl with cornrows and visible hair loss of the hairline. You can see how the forelock has taken a huge beating and, what's worst, this has happened at an age where her follicles and her skin are still developing. Furthermore, if it can happen to a little girl, it WILL happen to you! ![]() The take home message about traction alopecia: make sure to go to a professional if you want to braid your hair and tell him/her to not pull too hard! Likewise, try not ot wear braids (or cornrows) for a very long time, instead allow your follicles to regain their strength by just wearing your hair loose or tying it softly. Lastly, if you're going to be wearing braids or cornrows, it is veyr important that you ensure that you're taking vitamin C. Vitamin C helps to strengthen the skin (including the follicles) and aids in optimizing the building of the hair strand. A great vitamin C supplement is this one here and you only need to take a pill at breakfast and you're ready to go. Another product you can take is this braid reliever. This product in the link will help with the itching of the braids and cornrows, and will help to lubricate the scalp and hair. If you can afford it, do also buy the scalp reliever, but if you can't, then at least make sure to get the vitamin C supplement in the link above! Braids and cornrows are great men's hairstyles, but you have to be smart about how you get them. Just like any other male hairstyles!

why do some people allow kids to have all those super tied braids? they are screwing up their hair follicles from day 1 with those hairstyles.
