Natural hair loss remedies for men, do they work?

So one of my brothers is officially balding and he is wanting to try natural remedies for hair loss. Does any of that stuff work or should he follow standard hair loss treatments? He said some natural herbs and even some homeopathy mixes. I haven't seen any suggestions on natural remedies for hair loss so im thinking its bogus. What do u think?

Natural remedies or herbal extracts do not (mostly) work for male pattern baldness.
For the most part, herbal remedies for hair loss do not work. I have seen some crazy voodoo herbal stuff being sold for male pattern baldness that's pure snake oil.

Two herbal/natural extracts that 'may' help for male pattern baldness are saw palmetto and tea tree oil. Saw palmetto may work by inhibiting DHT on the hair follicles while tea tree oil may work due to its antiseptic and antifungal properties.

If you want something that has been proven to inhibit DHT at the hair follicles, then finasteride is what will do it. If you want something that has shown plenty of promise to aid in male pattern baldness thanks to its anti fungal properties, then try ketoconazole.

The problem with herbal remedies and extracts to treat male pattern baldness is that there's no real evidence behind most of the stuff being sold. But then there's no regulation in place so anyone can come up with some stupid herbal blend and sell it to the masses promising hair regrowth.

See this thread for the hair loss products available as treatments against male pattern baldness. They include some interesting compounds including ketoconazole and tea tree oil - combined with other proven compounds.

So tell your brother to either look into saw palmetto and tea tree oil, or go straight for the stuff that has been proven to work to slow down male pattern baldness and even regrow hair to some extent.

RE: Natural hair loss remedies for men, do they work?
It's better to use an organic shampoo like aloe vera or moringa shampoo and apply a natural remedy that you can find at your home. Use apple cider vinegar mix with water is effective to apply before taking a bath.

Thanks for the replies, my brother finally went with minoxidil as its recommended here mostly and it actually works. Moringa shampoo u say? will look into that as like panther said lots of natural hair loss products seem to be bogus after doing some research and this forum has covered all the options that truly work.
ow would apple cider vinegar for hair loss work?? never heard of that one for hair loss, just to clean up some hair buildup. Seems like too much trouble when there are better scalp cleansers out there?? just asking...

Use a salicylic acid shampoo to clean the scalp & moringa oil to help with hair loss

Apple cider vinegar is just to remove buildup from the scalp and you need to really dig into the scalp for it to work. It's much easier to use something like a chelating shampoo or a shampoo with salicylic acid like THIS one.

Also see the replies on your moringa oil shampoo question that you started as a new thread too. Moringa oil shampoos for hair loss are worth considering in the same line as tea tree oil shampoos, they both are antifungal agents that can help a bit when used with minoxidil, finasteride or both.

RE: Natural hair loss remedies for men, do they work?
If by natural products for hair loss you mean minoxidil or finasteride then yes, they work. Other than that you're shooting for the sky but going nowhere. Call me a skeptical barber but in my years the real hair growing results in balding males that I have seen are either from minoxidil or finasteride. I'm talking noticeable changes for the better. Not placebo or confirmation bias stuff.
Half serious now, something that acts against fungi like tea tree oil will have some benefit but only when coupled with minoxidil or finasteride. Moringa oil seems to also have a similar anti fungal effect after reading Panther's detailed posts so it may be worth a shot.

But minoxidil and/or finasteride is where it's at for male pattern alopecia.

Oldschool barber getting it on with the internet era.

Hey man. One of my friends is balding too and wanted to try natural remedies because some of the shampoos for hair loss is bullshit and cost so much. He didn't tell me any good home remedies but he did tell me that he started taking biotin vitamins and it helped with his hair growth.
