How can I make my hair turn like this?

Hi guys! I'm rocking a side part in the style of Mad Men. My hairstyle is almost an exact copy of the main character Don Draper, apart from one little detail that I don't know how to execute.

I'm not sure how to do it. Blow drying? How, which direction etc? Could it be that my bangs are just too short and it will be easy turning it after they grow enough?

Btw, I use water based pomades.
