Help about hair loss - Long hair guy

Thank you for reading this post, I am 31 years old, from pictures taken I can tell I am losing hair in crown and back as well as a receding hairline, the part of my hair is also wide. I am not sure, but I feel like there is a difference from last year. I used to shed a lot of hair daily but thankfully for the last couple months I have noticed less shedding. I would like your advise on the matter. Thank you so much!

Your hairline looks somewhat suspicious but the long hair on the top looks fine.
I take it that these are your current pictures, correct? Do you also have your older pictures that you can post?

From your current pictures, I can see the following:
  • The parted line looks to display average density (i.e. no hair loss), but the lighting makes it look wider than it is.
  • The crown area (i.e. back of your head's top where the parted line ends) does display a bit more scalp than it should and look suspicious. However, the lighting can affect this. With long hair, parted areas of the scalp tend to look wider because the hair is being weighed down, which, with enough lighting, will show up a scary amount of scalp surface despite no actual balding.
  • Your frontal hairline looks suspicious but we'd need to know what your natural hairline is like. Your current hairline need not be a receding hairline but, rather, a natural hairline (yes, non-balding hairlines can be set back that much).
Is your current frontal hairline a receded version of your natural hairline from when you were 16-21 years of age?

Do you have any direct family members who are balding or bald? I'm talking of your father, any brothers, grandfathers and uncles. Both paternal and maternal lineage.

If you were factually balding, then the good news would be that you're at an early stage and that's when compounds/products like minoxidil provide best results. Have a look at our hair loss products guide to know what are the over-the-counter products for hair loss that you can use. Those products containing minoxidil are, by far, the best with regards to OTC products.

Let us know about your previous pictures and/or if your current hairline isn't your naturally-set hairline (i.e. your current hairline is receding). Moreover, please post a picture of the side of your head with your hair pulled back and to the other side so that your profile shot shows your hairline best from that angle.

Put minoxidil on it. But search for side effects. I hear it gives a little irritation, so check it first
