Never really thought about doing a modern slick back, but I certainly have the length to pull it off now. Question though. I'm still a relative novice when it comes to product application, so would I be applying my Suavecito before or after I blowdry my hair?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the great guide. I was wanting to style my hair like Brad Pitt in his new movie Fury. I was wondering what product you think he used? Based on the photo's I have seen his hair seems to have little to no shine and seems to hold really well but also seems to have some flexibility and movement. I was wondering if you think he may have used a real pomade instead of a water based pomade?

I have used gel most of my life and I have tried to get away from the crunch by using waxes, clays, pomades, creams. None of the above really seems to work like I like because I have super thick hair and usually end up using more product than recommended. I have tried the Layrite pomade mentioned in this thread and it seems to hold well, the only negative thing I would say about the product is that the vanilla scent is a little overpowering for me. I have always been sensitive to strong scents like perfume and I always end up with a headache which is a major bummer.

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips you can provide.

This is a great resource, thanks for posting this. I'm finally trying a slick back style even though my pomade is only so-so (I have to re-wet it and re-slick it a few times a day), but I have a question regarding the best length for the sides. Is it best to do some sort of a taper on the sides, or just let it stay long enough that I can slick that part back, too?

I like how undercuts look on some guys, but my head is more on the round side and I work in a professional environment so not sure it work on multiple levels.

Looking for some advice if possible. Thanks!

This thread is very helpful, I just have one question before I try this tonight.
I have medium length thick wavy curly hair (5-6 inches long atm). I recently bought Layrite Super HOld Pom and without using my flat iron I was able to achieve a surprising straight looking sleek back. But now I would like to have a style like Justin timberlake has in this thread. My main question is, should I use the flat iron before going to the barber or should I bring it with me? Would having it flat ironed before help the barber better achieve the look I want? Thank you!

Slicked back looks great on JT. Don't like it as much on Scott Caan. The proportions on JT are good and it looks really clean/polished. I wonder what product he is using for it to look that good?

Can someone tell me what products to use/how to get my hair like this Bradley Cooper picture and I know the Patrick sharp haircut is a different style but I like his too. My hair is straight and about 4 inches long all around. I put pomade (light hold but i am about to get to some stronger hold) and it will start to part again and won't hold. Lately, I have only been washing it about twice a week to get it a little bit greasy so it'll stay back. Also what kind of haircut do I need for the Cooper hair cut. I can't find a complete article on this.
