Curly hair products for men to improve curl shape and dryness?

Hi Folks,

As a kid i had very curly hair, now it is almost just coarse hair that always just seems to be dry. If I grow my curly hair out, it gets a little curly. If it could stay at the point just before it gets completely dry after the shower that would be great or if I could find a way to bring it back to it's old curly hair.

Any recommendations on shampoos, conditioners or hair styling gels (curl-forming products) to use? I have always just kept my hair super short but I'd like to be able to style it at least a little sometime.

Following that any recommendations on styles for my hair type?
