Best hair gel for spiky hairstyles? Short or long hair spikes

Hey guys, which is the best hair gel to style spiky hairstyles? I'm looking for hair gels with strong hold to spike hair short or long. Only important is the strong hold to keep the hair up in spikes all day. It's not for me but I was asked this question and I have no idea. So I ask the forum!

For spiky hair styles, you want a hair gel with strong hold. It doesn't need to be a very strong hold unless the hair to be spiked is over 4 inches in length, then it's best that you use a very strong hair gel or extra hold hair gel. From there you'd choose your hair gel depending on the shine hair effect that you want on your spiky hairstyle.

You can find the recommended hair gels at the end of this post but first, and for your reference, I'm going to post spiky hair pictures with different lengths.

Once your hair is longer than the pictures above, you would then want to use a extra strong hair gel to keep the spikes in place. It doesn't matter how thick or thin the spikes are, what matters is the length of the hair. So once you start going over 4 inches of hair length, you want to use a hair gel with extra strength hold.

Man you got it all laid out and explained perfectly by Panther already so I don't have much to say. Just that thankfully even the extra strong styling gels these days are easy to wash off compared to the earlier versions from not that long ago. Those things were freaking disgusting to remove and you would end up with a layer of the hair gel all over your body as you shampooed it off.

Also make sure your hair is damp when you style your spikes. Don't make the mistake of styling your spiky hair when it's dry with hair gel. As a rule of thumb you should always style your hair when it's damp and not when it's dry. Perfectly applicable to spiking hair with strong holding gels.

Thank you!!! in Spain in supermarkets it is difficult to find good hair gels. Like only two or three brands for mens hair. Not cheap when you see these hair gels online, better prices! Also we only have here like L'oreal hair products in supermarkets. Only can you find more popular brands like American Crew in special stores but the hair gel from American Crew I don't like so I told my friend no to this brand.
I used in the past two of the hair gels that Panther recommended and they are great but I didn't know they were also for spiky hair. So the only requirement for spiking hair with hair gel is a strong effect. Then you can choose the shine effect, etc? Correct? So for spiky hairstyles only strong or extra strong hair gel.
I have emailed the thread to my friend and he got one strong hair gel and one extra strong hair gel from your list. In supermarkets here all hair gels are double the price compared to these hair gels from online!
