26 balding or cowlicks?

First let me give you some backround. I am 26 years old and have had dandruff my whole life(seb derm) it comes and goes, and when its here i feel like my hair is thinner than usual. ive had short haircuts for the past ten years and have always delt with stubborn cowlicks. now that i am trying to let my hair grow out (month 4 with regular end trimming) i feel like my hair is thinning. Can you guys help me figure out if its just the cowlicks? i have two in the front hair line and my biggest one in the back. the thinning hair seems to be hanging around these areas.
