RE: My Journey..
That's better my friend. Now we can help you better.

First question, did you get any "thinning" done on the top of the head? (do you know what thinning is? if not tell us and I will describe it). Or did you get a haircut on the top of your head that made the hair "uneven"?

Your fringe looks thinned out. It's usually an issue of some hairdresser getting too happy with the "thinning" (plus most hairdressers way over thin out their male customers).

What hair products are you using? Koharu Sugawara's hair looks to be done with some wax/paste and hair spray, at least that's the first products you should be trying.

Koharu Sugawara's hair also looks to be done with an asymmetric cut similar to the (annoying and distasteful) haircut of Miley Cyrus. I would not worry about the haircut just yet since you seem to have some issues with the asymmetry on the top and the first thing you need to have prior to getting an asymmetric hair is have symmetric hair to begin with (and don't let any hairdresser tell you otherwise, always get your hair evened out and grow it back, then cut the hair asymmetric!).

So please, let us know:
  • Did you in the past (3-12 months ago), have any kind of haircut done to break the symmetry of the hair on the top, or did you get it thinned out?
  • What hair products do you have?

Hair thinning is when a barber will remove hair bulk by cutting length without affecting the visual length. It's difficult to explain, but it would make sense if you went to the barbershop recently.

The hair covering your forehead looks thinned out, which is not going to get you the hair of Koharu Sugawara, as you will need a thicker fringe. Otherwise playing with a fringe like yours is not going to have enough hold of its own to set as a side fringe which is what she has.

Asymmetry is when the hair is cut on one side longer than on the other. In the hair of Koharu Sugawara, she looks to have one side of the head cut shorter than the other, but it's really hard to see because she rejects posing like a normal sane person instead of all these ridiculous selfies that are a plague and that have her posing very awkwardly. From other pictures I have seen of her, it is not clear, and it looks like she has a taper haircut.

The situation is somewhat complex and I think by now it is better that you first go to a hair salon with pictures of Koharu Sugawara's hair, and ask them for a haircut to get her hair. We can help you with the styling, but the best person to give you advice for the haircut is a hairstylist. I do know in Japan there many trendy hair salons with very knowledgeable stylists, so avoid a traditional barbershop as they will not know how to do the haircut. Go to a modern hair salon with the pictures and they will do the rest.

Once you get the haircut, come back and update us on it in this thread. We will be able to help you with the styling. Wax and tonic (hair tonic) is good enough, so you have that going for you. Yo may need a hair dryer, but the hairstyle is not difficult so you'll be golden once you have the right haircut (although you may have to wait some weeks for some extra growth once you have the haircut).

I took 3 pictures of Koharu Sugawara's hair that will help you. Take these pictures and some others you like of her to the hair salon. You can take your mobile phone, print the pictures or even take your laptop and show the hairstylist the pictures you like about the haircut.

Keep us updated!

RE: My Journey..
Awesome haircut, love it, glad your happy with it, I think it suits you to a tee, only thing I can say is have fun styling it and try some alternative looks just as Koharu Sugawara does sometimes

Now is the fun part, getting used to your hairstyles and finding to style it

Good Luck

RE: My Journey..
You got a great haircut, congratulations!

Now you have to wait about 2 months so that your hair grows a bit longer so you can have your hair exactly like Koharu Sugawara.

Question, are the pictures with or without using hair wax? If they are without, can you style your hair with hair wax to see how it looks? I am assuming you have the Gatsby wax, right?

Again, great haircut. It was very important to get the asymmetric fringe done right, and your hairstylist did it very well. Big change from your old "boring" hairstyle! Smile
