Mens Haircuts: Barbershop Designs, Clipper Styles and Hair Shapes

Star Mens Haircuts: Barbershop Designs, Clipper Styles and Hair Shapes
In this discussion we will be posting pictures of mens hairstyles and haircuts with barbershop hair designs. Hair designs are done with shears and a hair clipper, shaping the hair and drawing on it by creating dents via the use of the hair clipper or special clipping tool known as a T outliner (see more on it below).

Hair designs are common with African American men, as the kinky curly hair remains vertical for a very long length while the rest of hair types are hanging down, including coiled curly hair. Such a vertical nature of the kinks allows for the recreating of plenty of cool hair shapes, designs and forms.

Hair designs are also common with soccer players, and in this 2014 World Cup we have seen many haircuts and hairstyles of soccer players that incorporated designs, parts and shaping. An example was the hair of Cristiano Ronaldo where he got a V shape on the right side of his head and the hair of Arturo Vidal who had a Mohawk haircut with several slashes aka part ins.

Lastly, beard designs can also be had and be done with the use of a hair clipper in the same manner as you'd do with the hair designs on the scalp. The problem is that the beard has a less surface area so any design work will be less visible than on the head, unless the design is part of a beard style where shaping, rather than drawing, is the goal of the style. Thus, most of the hair designing takes place on the scalp, and in particular, on the sides of the head.

Please be aware that we will be updating this thread with more and more pictures, so bookmark the thread or post it on your Facebook and Twitter for reference. The thread is also picture heavy, so you may find it a bit slow loading depending on your connection! Smile

Pictures of Hair designs

All hair designs below in the pictures have been done in a barbershop setting or similar and on different mens hairstyles for straight hair to kinky curly hair (aka afro textured hair). The slashing aka parting in (what looks like a scar similar to Scarface but on the scalp and hair) is done with a hair clipper known as a T outliner. The good thing about a T-outliner is that the good ones can work to also shape and trim your beard, sideburns and hairline to shape it up.

An excellent T outliner that we recommend to do all these hair designs and part ins is this T outliner. Make sure to get the greasing oil (click the link) and the quick cleaning liquid (click the link) to keep your T outliner in perfect shape and last you years!

RE: Mens Haircuts: Barbershop Designs, Clipper Styles and Hair Shapes
The cool thing about hairstyle designs is that you can do them by yourself with shears and/or a T outliner as I mentioned earlier in my first post (with high-quality recommendation included!).

With regards to shears (aka scissors or barber scissors), you want to own at least a pair as cutting your hair with regular scissors or kitchen scissors is a huge NO! Smile Barber scissors are made to cut the hair smoothly without damaging it as well as allow for a very ergonomic and convenient handling of the scissors. Lastly, shears/barber scissors are cheap and they will be super useful to you any time that you want to re-create any hairstyle shape, cut your hair or retouch any currently-styled barbershop or hair salon haircut.

An excellent set of barber scissors that we highly recommend is this set of 3 shears which includes hair texturizing shears to cut your hair in a messy yet sharp manner (for a messy hairstyle or shaggy haircut). Without a doubt, you should own that set of 3 shears in the link as it will prove very value to you sooner or later if you minimally care about hairstyle aesthetics.

More freestyle pictures below of barbershop hairstyle designs!

Some creative hairstyles for sure. Amazing what you can do with a hair clipper and maybe smoking some week Big Grin
Would you say that for men with hair loss and a norwood 3 baldness... all these barbershop haircuts would be ok? I am mostly talking of the razor lines as i am tool old for wearing a tribal haircut on my head Big Grin

RE: Mens Haircuts: Barbershop Designs, Clipper Styles and Hair Shapes
Vladimir, all these barbershop haircuts can be done on hair that is abundant on the top of the head, so a Norwood III is fine for a barbershop haircut design. It's when the hair on the top of the head is lacking (bald spots) or thinned out that the cuts and designs look out of place.

As for the razor dents, that's fine. Just take into account that they are frowned upon in professional jobs and if you're over 25 years of age, you run the risk of not being taken seriously by your peers! Big Grin

Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace got some barbershop cuts on his scalp in 2007 to recreate his NBA team's name. Just another barbershop cut to add to our NBA haircuts list of hairstyling extravaganza! Big Grin

RE: Mens Haircuts: Barbershop Designs, Clipper Styles and Hair Shapes
Wow some of those barbershop haircuts look fly! however there are some others that are almost as douchey as the blowout of Pauly D lol
So basically all we need then is an outliner trimmer to get those lines and shapes going? what about mirrors? is the one with the multi mirrors that I have seen you recommend also a good option to buy for better hair cutting? I ask because I bought it some time ago and its freaking good for shaving especially! all I am missing would be the trimmer but am I right guessing that the multi mirror would help even more with the trimming of the lines?

Here are some epic NBA haircuts from NBA fans themselves and not NBA players! Big Grin

Some people really do love their team and/or a player. That, or some people do really have too much free time on their hands!

Epic Barber hair designs.
More barbershop haircut designs. This same technique of using a clipper or T-outliner to draw hair designs is known as hair tattoos or etching.
