I need help with wearing my hair back.
So here is what I am currently working with :

For reference, I am a 21 years old. I condition every day and shampoo usually every third day, sometimes every other day. After I shower, I usually let my hair air dry for 20-30 minutes, then I throw in some light hold gel and push my hair back. After that I will blow dry my hair back for about 30 seconds, then I'll apply some forming cream so my hair comes out looking darker. I'll let this all sit and air dry for 45 mins or so then Ill brush it back with a plastic bristle brush. This is just a basic outline of what I try to do, I sometimes will blow dry right away if I am short on time.
So my question is this: how can I get my hair to look more like this:

The main thing I am looking to do is to keep my hair consistent everywhere. In the 6th photo in my imgur album, you can see that my hair does a sort of "poof" where it doesn't go straight back, but instead it sort of scrunches upwards. You can also see this in the 2nd to last photo. I basically want to wear my hair back and have it be consistent in the front and on both sides.
Any recommendations on how to achieve this?
