Thumbs Up CHI Ceramic Flat Iron review - Professional results!
This is a review of the CHI Ceramic flat iron. This particular flat iron is made by Farouk and it is one of the original ceramic straightening irons. To this day it continues to be one of the most popular irons out there and the CHI brand is one of the most popular 'styling tools' brands sold in the beauty industry. This review of the CHI Ceramic flat iron is more focused on mens hair, although flat irons are unisex hair styling tools anyway. As a woman I can vouch for how great this iron works and I have seen the results in men too. The results are just as great as with women!

This iron is popular because it works. The CHI Ceramic flat iron can straighten even the curliest hair and tame the wildest frizz. It heats up very quickly, a must if you are using it in the morning as you get ready to go out. It heats up in fifteen seconds, and gets very hot. The temperature is fixed. Only one or two swipes are sufficient for most hair. The straightening effect lasts all day, even in very humid climates! Some users report getting caught in the rain and their hair remaining straight.

Just FTR this iron can also go by the name of CHI Ceramic Style flat iron. The 'CHI Ceramic' term is more of its brand name with the generic ceramic term so sometimes sellers use other words like 'style' to add bulk to the name.

The plate of the CHI Ceramic flat iron is only an inch wide making it easy to get right to the roots of the hair and especially so for mens hair. It is slightly curved, allowing you to flip hair in or out if you desire. Once you get used to the iron, you will also be able to create curls and crimps in your hair. I would go as far as to say that this CHI iron is even better for mens hair than for womens hair since you can get some great and fast straightening results with short to medium length hair.

The advantage of the iron being ceramic over metal is that it heats up more evenly, avoiding hot spots on the plate that can damage hair. Ceramic irons also leave hair looking shiny and healthy unlike most of the metallic ones. Ceramic plates glide much better over the hair, reducing the risk of heat damage on particular spots. To reduce the risk of heat damage even more it is best to use the CHI iron on hair that has dried naturally by air drying rather than using a hairdryer first before straightening with the iron. If you still prefer to use a hair dryer to cut down on styling time go to the hair dryer forum discussion in the link for some good hair dryer recommendations. Don't just go drying your hair with a cheap hair dryer before using the flat iron! You will fry your hair.

There are also products available to use on your hair to protect it when you are using any form of heat treatment. The best products are called heat tamers or heat protectants and usually come as a spray or easy to apply product. Just get it coated with the product and use the flat iron.

The cord provided on the CHI Ceramic Style flat iron is a long one on a swivel head, making it easy to manoeuvre. The main problem with the CHI iron appears to be that it has no automatic shut off. In view of how hot it gets this seems like a major flaw. The quick heat up and extreme heat make it dangerous around children and you should always be careful to store it out of reach. If accidentally left on it can melt the plastic right off the plates, and leaving it on for long periods can shorten its life.

The CHI brand is one of the more expensive brands on the market but it is worth the extra cost because it works better than the rest. Please ask any questions below or mods post links to vendors if any Smile
