Wink 5 great movie mustaches: Fumanchu, Jack Sparrow, Borat, Chaplin and Ron Burgundy
I wasn't here for last year's Movember, but now with the 2014 Movember, I'd like to post some mustache inspiration with 5 great movie mustaches. You still have time to grow your 'tache and keep it groomed and trimmed. So why not take some inspiration from these movie mustaches?

For men, November has officially become "Movember," a month for men to grow mustaches to raise awareness for prostate cancer. The idea is that the mustache acts as the familiar pink ribbon used for breast cancer awareness.

Over the years mustaches have become an unequaled sign of manliness, and a well placed mustache has been used in the film industry since its beginnings. Several iconic movie characters have sported a mustache, so here are some of my favorite five mustaches.

Fu Manchu from "The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu"

A lot of great characters sport mustaches, but not many get the style of mustache named after them. That is the case with Fu Manchu as the "Fu Manchu" has gone on to become one of the most recognizable 'staches ever. The style sees the mustache extend well beyond of the chin with the facial hair hanging. Not only is it a great way to support Movember, but the Fu Manchu is also a great way to get across how sinister a villain is.

There is even this forum thread describing the difference between the Fu Manchu mustache and the horseshoe mustache.

Captain Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean series"

What would a swashbuckling rogue be without his mustache? Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean" debuted on the big screen in 2003 with a quirky and instantly memorable performance that spawned three more films. While Jack Sparrow's mustache is fairly simple, it highlights the character perfectly and helps get across the off-kilter personality of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Borat Sagdiyev from "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)"

"Borat" became a cultural phenomenon in 2006 when Sacha Baron Cohen's inept Kazakh TV reporter made his feature film debut. It was a mixture of great timing, great acting and great appearance that sold Borat as something more than Cohen's other creations: Ali G and Bruno. The signature part of Borat's look is his mustache, which Sacha Baron Cohen actually grows completely for the role.

The Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) from "Kid Auto Races at Venice (1914)"

There are few images that can stay in the public consciousness for nearly a decade. One of those images is of Charlie Chaplin as his "Tramp" character, complete with disheveled suit, top hat and, of course, an unforgettable mustache. In this case the style was known as the toothbrush, though it is better known as the "Hitler mustache." Luckily for Charlie Chaplin, he used the mustache before its more sinister associations, and created one of cinema's most lovable characters in the process.

Ron Burgundy from "Anchorman (2004)"

When you bring up the phrase "luxurious mustache" the image of Ron Burgundy from "Anchorman" is one of the first that comes to mind. There is nothing overly special about it, but it brings so much to the character that it becomes hard to ignore. Ron Burgundy's mustache helps signify the decadence and sleaze of Burgundy with an exaggerated 1970's era moustache. Without it "Anchorman" would have been a much different movie.
